Sorah Al-Qari'ah ( The Striking Hour ) - Verses Number 11
الْقَارِعَةُ ( 1 ) Al-Qari'ah ( The Striking Hour ) - Ayaa 1
The Striking Calamity -
مَا الْقَارِعَةُ ( 2 ) Al-Qari'ah ( The Striking Hour ) - Ayaa 2
What is the Striking Calamity?
وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الْقَارِعَةُ ( 3 ) Al-Qari'ah ( The Striking Hour ) - Ayaa 3
And what can make you know what is the Striking Calamity?
يَوْمَ يَكُونُ النَّاسُ كَالْفَرَاشِ الْمَبْثُوثِ ( 4 ) Al-Qari'ah ( The Striking Hour ) - Ayaa 4
It is the Day when people will be like moths, dispersed,
وَتَكُونُ الْجِبَالُ كَالْعِهْنِ الْمَنفُوشِ ( 5 ) Al-Qari'ah ( The Striking Hour ) - Ayaa 5
And the mountains will be like wool, fluffed up.
فَأَمَّا مَن ثَقُلَتْ مَوَازِينُهُ ( 6 ) Al-Qari'ah ( The Striking Hour ) - Ayaa 6
Then as for one whose scales are heavy [with good deeds],
فَهُوَ فِي عِيشَةٍ رَّاضِيَةٍ ( 7 ) Al-Qari'ah ( The Striking Hour ) - Ayaa 7
He will be in a pleasant life.
وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَفَّتْ مَوَازِينُهُ ( 8 ) Al-Qari'ah ( The Striking Hour ) - Ayaa 8
But as for one whose scales are light,
فَأُمُّهُ هَاوِيَةٌ ( 9 ) Al-Qari'ah ( The Striking Hour ) - Ayaa 9
His refuge will be an abyss.
وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا هِيَهْ ( 10 ) Al-Qari'ah ( The Striking Hour ) - Ayaa 10
And what can make you know what that is?
نَارٌ حَامِيَةٌ ( 11 ) Al-Qari'ah ( The Striking Hour ) - Ayaa 11
It is a Fire, intensely hot.

  • The Islamic Will And TestamentWriting a will is a religious obligation on every capable Muslim. It protects against many problems and conflicts that could arise after a person’s death. This obligation is more emphasized in the West: Failing to write a well-founded will may result in the distribution of one’s estate in discord with the Islamic law, and may lead to losses for some of the rightful inheritors.

  • Evolution of FiqhThe author says in the introduction of the second edition, “The overall purpose of this book is to acquaint the reader with the historical factors behind the formulation of Islamic law (Fiqh), in order that he or she may better understand how and why the various schools of Islamic law (Madh-habs) came about. It is hoped that this understanding will in turn, provide a basis for overcoming the petty differences and divisions which occur when present-day followers of different schools of people without definite schools try to work together. Thus, another aim of this book is to provide a theoretical framework for the reunification of the Madhhabs and an ideological basis for Islamic community work free from the divisive effects of Madh-hab factionalism.” The book consists of six chapters: foundation, establishment, building, flowing, consolidation, and stagnation and decline.

  • The Prophetic MedicineThis book is the panacea for those in search of good health. It is a magnificent work that is a treasure every Muslim household. Although it was written by the author, Ibn Al-Qayyim, over six hundred years ago, it is extremely timely work for our generation in which health and natural health care products have become an important aspect of the lives of so many. The author presents the guidance of the Prophet in dealing with a variety of health issues, including treatment of ailment and preventive remedies to keep the body fit. As the Qur'an and Sunnah are the main sources of Islamic lifestyle, it only stands to reason that they should likewise be referred to in the matters of health and fitness. This is the approach taken by Ibn Al-Qayyim as he presents Verses of the Qur'an and statements of the Prophet as his main reference in these issues of health and medicines.

  • Concept of God in IslamIts author said in the introduction, "It is a known fact that every language has one or more terms that are used in reference to God and sometimes to lesser deities. This is not the case with Allah. Allah is the personal name of the One true God. Nothing else can be called Allah. The term has no plural or gender. This shows its uniqueness when compared with the word "god," which can be made plural, as in "gods," or made feminine, as in "goddess." It is interesting to notice that Allah is the personal name of God in Aramaic, the language of Jesus and a sister language of Arabic."
